What kind of rewards are most motivating for you?
Mar 30, 2023We had such a positive response with our last post, we thought we'd share a few more fun reward ideas to help keep you motivated along your journey and provide a few questions to help spark some ideas for what rewards work best for you!
Here's a few things you could do when you reach that small goal!
- Download a habit tracker or create one in your planner, give yourself a star or a check when you complete it!
- Take a picture to monument the goal and share it with someone who will cheer you on.
- Go to a place that makes you happy; a museum, an exhibit, a garden, a performance.
- Indulge in a cozy night at home with your favorite soft surroundings, a favorite movie and a favorite cuddle buddy.
- Give yourself a break and take a guilt-free nap or enjoy a leisurely morning in bed.
- Buy that book you've been wanting to read,
- Have a pampering session with a DIY spa day or book a professional massage.
- Spend time in nature with a scenic walk, hike, or bike ride.
- Enjoy a fun hobby or creative activity, like painting, knitting, or playing a musical instrument.
- Have a solo dance party in your living room or roll down the windows in your car and sing!
- Connect with a friend or loved one over coffee or a video chat.
- Splurge on a small luxury item you've had your eye on, like a piece of jewelry or a gadget.
Questions to Determine What Rewards Are Most Motivating for You:
- What activities or experiences make you feel happy, relaxed, or rejuvenated?
- What hobbies or interests do you have that you wish you could devote more time to?
- What small luxuries or indulgences make you feel special or pampered?
- What accomplishments or milestones have you celebrated in the past that felt particularly rewarding?
- How do you typically unwind or de-stress after a long day or a challenging task?
- Are there any upcoming events, activities, or experiences you've been looking forward to?
- What are some ways you can treat yourself without using food as a reward?
By considering these questions and the fun reward ideas, you can create a personalized list of brain-boosting gold stars that will motivate and encourage you as you work toward building and sustaining new habits!
Remember to celebrate your victories, no matter how small, and give your brain the feel-good reward it needs to keep going.
